CHAIRMAN OF THE PERMANENT COMMISSION ON ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL ISSUES

Dr. George Lam is a champion for digital transformation, tech entrepreneurship, sustainable development, responsible business, impact investing and international cooperation. He is Chair of the United Nations ESCAP Sustainable Business Network (ESBN) and Chair of the ESBN Finance Task Force, and a member of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government Green Technology and Finance Development Committee and the Governance Committee of the Hong Kong Growth Portfolio. He is also a member of the Belt and Road and Greater Bay Area Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Chairman of the Innovation and Technology Committee of the Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce, Senior Advisor to the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Macau, Advisor to Hong Kong Investor Relations Association, Advisor to Our Hong Kong Foundation, and Founding Advisor to Hong Kong Digital Asset Society.

Dr. Lam earlier served as Chairman of Hong Kong Cyberport, Hong Kong’s digital technology flagship and global innovation and start-ups hub. He was a member of the Chief Executive’s Policy Unit Expert Group, the Committee on Innovation, Technology and Re-Industrialization, the Sir Murray MacLehose Trust Fund Investment Advisory Committee and the Development Bureau Common Spatial Data Advisory Committee of the HKSAR Government, Convenor of the Panel of Advisors on Building Management Disputes of the Home Affairs Department and a Part-time Member of the Central Policy Unit of the HKSAR Government. He was a practicing Solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong (and formerly a member of the Hong Kong Bar).

Dr. Lam is an Accredited Mediator of the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution, a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, Certified Management Accountants (CMA) Australia and the Hong Kong Institute of Directors, an international affiliate of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), an Honorary Fellow of Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Australia, the Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management and the University of Hong Kong School of Professional and Continuing Education, and a Distinguished Fellow of the Hong Kong Innovative Technology Development Association.
