Ary Zulfikar is the Founder Partner of Ary Zulfikar & Partners which is also known as azp legal consultants. He has more than 25 years of experience in the field of law and has handled both domestic and international transactions with diverse expertise in corporate and litigation practices. He started his career at Kartini Muljadi & Rekan where he handled many capital markets transactions and corporate actions. His experience in capital market industry expanded as he joined PT Kliring Depositori Efek Indonesia and then PT Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia (self-regulatory organizations in Indonesian capital market) as its Legal and Compliance Department Head.

During the Indonesian Financial Crisis in 1997-1998, he later joined the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Indonesia where he handled numerous corporate restructuring transactions and settlement of shareholders’ obligations under the bank restructuring program. He also involved in the establishment of the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan/LPS) as a team member appointed by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia from 2002-2004.

In 2004, he founded and became the Managing Partner of azp legal consultants, specializing in capital markets, banking and finance, infrastructure and energy, restructuring, insolvency and asset resolution, as well as litigation and dispute resolution practice areas. In February 2020, he stepped off as the Managing Partner of azp legal consultants and is currently serving as the Executive Director of Legal Division of LPS, focusing on the deposit insurance and resolution program for Indonesian banks. In his busy schedule, he still manages to lecture at Faculty of Law in Universitas Trisakti and Universitas Pancasila.

Ary Zulfikar graduated from Universitas Padjajaran with a bachelor’s degree in law in 1994. He continued to pursue his study and obtained his master’s degree in law from Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2015. He then obtained his doctoral’s degree (cum laude) from Universitas Padjajaran with his dissertation title “Foreign Direct Investment Restriction Policy as a Control of Inward Foreign Direct Investment in Accordance with Sustainable Development Principles” in 2019.

In the field of UMKM movement, Ary initiated the establishment of the “Alumni UMKM Community” on March 20, 2020 as a forum for communication and coordination amongst Padjadjaran University Alumni who carry out business in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in order to strengthen the quality, branding and promotion of the product. This community-based UMKM Alumni movement will continue to be developed by expanding other UMKM communities from universities or colleges besides from Padjadjaran University Alumni.

To encourage the increase of productivity of the Alumni UMKM Community, Ary also initiated the establishment of the Indonesian UMKM Alumni Cooperative, known as KUALI, on May 20, 2020 with the aim of providing a technical assistance of production process to MSME players, especially in marketing products produced by members of the Alumni UMKM Community in order to expand a product distribution to domestic and export market.

As to the strengthening of community base, Ary also formed the Bumi Alumni Association (PBA), on October 2, 2020 as a joint forum for the Alumni UMKM Community and the Non-UMKM Community consisting of, among others, professions, academics / lecturers, employees, hobbies/sports and other communities. To create a synergistic production process among MSME players, PBA also initiated the use of a Collective Mark for any member of Alumni UMKM Community who have similar products, so that marketing can be carried out jointly through the “Lupba” Collective Brand.

In order to ensure supply chain of MSME’s product, Ary establish PT Bumi Alumni Gallery, which will open market access through digital platforms (e-commerce) and off-line platforms by opening Cafe Lupba as a gallery that will accommodate the production of MSME players who are member of PBA and KUALI.
